Lipofilling is an autologous fat grafting. It is based on the use of one’s own fat tissue to smooth out furrows, correct wrinkles, enlarge lips and supplement defects caused by injury, disease and congenital defects. Lipofilling can be combined with upper and lower eyelid plasty and face lift. This type of treatment is used in the case of dark circles under the eyes and skinny face after significant weight loss.
The fat material is usually taken from the abdominal folds or the medial surfaces of the thighs and knees. It is then fractionated and properly prepared and transplanted in any amount. The fat remains in the tissues for the rest of your life. The procedure can be performed under both local and general anesthesia. The period of convalescence lasts about 10 days. In the first weeks after the procedure, it is not advisable to use the sauna, swimming pool or gym. Patients are recommended to perform a series of lymphatic massages in places from which the fat was taken. The purpose of these massages is to reduce swelling as well as the time needed for absorption of bruises.
There are no scars after the procedure. Rejections and allergies are excluded and there is a low risk of complications. The procedure takes 30 minutes to 1 hour.
